Meet the Owners
The Inn at Red Hills is the result of a local couple working together, in partnership with investors, to develop the much needed infrastructure in the beautiful, small town of Dundee, Oregon. Kendall Bergstrom and Paul deLancellotti executed the vision of creating Dundee's first boutique hotel in the winter and early spring months of 2008-2009. After moving to Oregon Wine County to join their family in producing Bergstrom Wines, they realized one of their dreams by launching their own label and producing their own wines under the deLancellotti Family Vineyards name. Their love for the wine country continued to grow as they share a dream of creating and operating an exquisite boutique hotel in the heart of wine country. In late 2009, they invited a close friend and investor, Laura Rutenis, to join the executive team and help bring the Inn, Restaurant and Wine Bar to life.
The team is extraordinary. Director of Retail Services, Donna Delzell, comes to us with 10 years of experience working with Whole Foods and played a pivotal role in the openings of Whole Foods Pearl District, Bellevue, Vancouver B.C.,Walnut Creek, and SF, to name a few! Paul deLancellotti leads our wine team in presenting a wonderful selection of hard to find, small lot wines from Oregon and Washington - in addition to leveraging his long term relationships within the wine industry. He is assisted by our wine buyer and concierge, Becky Boyd, who comes to us directly from three years at Domaine Drouhin. Her wine knowledge is extraordinary and her relationships through the valley enable our Inn guests a unique opportunity to visit tasting rooms not open to the public. The restaurant is the vision of Executive Chef, Paul Bachand, who is a local Newburgundian, and has opened key area restaurants including Joel Palmer House and La Rambla. Paul has now handed the reins over to Shiloh Ficek who is leading the kitchen in extraordinary fashion. Shiloh comes to us from Wildwood Restaurant in Portland, Oregon and shares Paul's committment to local farming and building relationships with those producers who farm using the same philosophies. Laura Rutenis, also an owner, rounds out the team in a dual role as Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Financial Officer. Laura brings 22 years of retailing, marketing and financial operational experience from May Department Stores and Macy's.
Kendall Bergstrom and Paul deLancellotti, created deLancellotti Family Vineyards in the heart of the Chehalem Mountain AVA after purchasing 26 acres in 1998 and began planting the first of three vineyard blocks. From 2000+, they were also among family owners of Bergstrom Wines, which is located among their estate vines in the heart of the Willamette Valley. They envisioned a time where they would live on the land and raise their three children. That dream happened in 2004 when they moved to Yamhill county permanently. As a resident, it seemed to Kendall all that was missing in this world class wine town was simple basic infrastructure. Kendall envisioned two mixed use office buildings in Dundee, and both were completed in 2008. Her true goal was to create an exquisite boutique hotel. Now that some of the basic groundwork was laid, it was time to move forward on the Inn.
Kendall and Paul's dreams of creating Oregon wine country's first boutique hotel became reality during the winter of 2008/9 . Paul not only brings the winemaking and farming appreciation to the company, but he also brings a passion for sustainability and protection of the environment and the Earth. His role as the Chief Sustainability Officer keeps the mission of the Inn, Farm To Fork Restaurant and Press Wine Bar local and environmentally friendly.
They share a common vision of wanting to immerse wine country travellers, whether local or from abroad, in the bounty of the Willamette Valley. Kendall serves on the voluntary Yamhill County Economic Revitalization Task Force and is active in the Dundee Civic Association and Carlton Business Association. They welcome you to the Inn!
